Giving Back

The Port Angeles Marathon Association (PAMA) is a non-profit 501c3.

The Port Angeles Marathon Association gives back to the communities of Sequim and Port Angeles in many ways including offering the Kids Marathon program to all Clallam County elementary schools and working with civic groups, service clubs and school teams and programs by offering cash donations in return for volunteer time. Over the past 5 years, PAMA donated more than $75,000 to local organizations. Many runners align with a charity organization and gather pledges. Running for a charity not only helps raise funds for a good cause, it also helps motivate and inspire runners because they feel accountable to their sponsors and organization.

CHARITY PARTNERS

It all began in 1990, when a group from Houston, Texas, traveled to Kenya and saw the desperate need for clean drinking water. They returned to Houston and founded a 501(c)3 non-profit. The fledgling organization equipped and trained a team of Kenyan drillers, and LWI Kenya began operations the next year under the direction of a national board. That pattern continues today; we train, consult, and equip local people to implement solutions in their own communities in the countries where we work.

Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County (VHOCC) was founded in 1978 by Rose Crumb, a visionary nurse who recognized the critical need for home-based, end-of-life care long before most of the country. Today VHOCC is an integral part of Clallam County, providing physical, emotional, and spiritual support to terminally ill patients and their families with free around the clock registered nursing availability and trained volunteers. VHOCC offers nursing care, nursing aide assistance, and social worker support to hospice and palliative patients as well as support and education for families. In addition, VHOCC offers the entire community an extensive grief and bereavement program, a Lending Closet for medical equipment, informative programs, and educational events focused on end-of-life.

Sarcoma is a rare type of cancer that can show up anywhere in the body. Though relatively rare, many people know someone impacted by it. The Northwest Sarcoma Foundation (NWSF) was established in 1996 to support anyone in the Pacific Northwest affected by sarcoma. NWSF raises awareness; provides information and care packages; hosts chat groups and events; and invests in research for improved outcomes. It builds connections through our 5-state region between health care providers, patients, survivors, and families. Our motto is that no one should face Sarcoma alone.
